Hunstanton Wins EDP Community of the Year
Hunstanton Town has been awarded the Community of the Year. There was tough competition but this year Hunstanton has really come to the fore with community activities and spirit. With huge Royal Wedding Festivities, fundraising for the basement, a marvellous carnival and our first Christmas Tree Festival to name but a few, Hunstanton was a busy Town.
Plans are already afoot for 2012 with it being a particularly busy year with the Golden Jubilee, the Olympics, Dickens 200th anniversary and also something very personal to the town – the 200th Birthday of Henry le Strange, the town’s founder.
We are of course very lucky to have a fabulous Newsletter which advertises all our events free of charge. This has grown in strength and goes into colour print for the first time soon.
Nobody can ever say that there is nothing to do in Hunstanton and it’s all thanks to residents giving their time freely to make Hunstanton a wonderful place to live and visit. If Hunstanton won the award the prize would go to the Youth Basement.
Town Hall Basement Nears Completion
Hunstanton Town Council is pleased to report that the basement project for use by the youth is almost complete. Thanks to lots of fundraising efforts by local people, all structural work is complete and the flooring is down. The last push will be to raise money for a kitchen and then furnishings.
The main youth room is to be home to the Hunstanton & District Lions Santa’s Grotto throughout December, so please visit Santa and look at the new basement.
Hunstanton has New Councillor
Lynda Brister is the latest member of Hunstanton Town Council after winning the local by-election recently. Lynda, a partner at Martins & Schofields Estate Agents, is very keen on the local community, having things run locally by local people. Her children attended local schools and her husband also has a local business. Her daughter is currently the Carnival Queen.
