    About The Hunstanton Town Council

Hunstanton Town Councillors are committed to work for the Town, its residents and businesses. As a Town Council it has no powers and relies on a good working relationship with King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council and Norfolk County Council to inform, exchange views and lobby to improve our Town and environment.

All Councillors are approachable and are willing to listen to your concerns and suggestions Not everyone is aware that our two monthly meetings are open to the public and we have now scheduled the last ten minutes of each full Council meeting to allow members of the public to address us and air their views.

Why not come and meet us face to face?

The present Council has been in office for 18 months and we can claim some successes with the near completion of the Town Hall basement for the youth, the start of the Community Orchard and participation in Anglia in Bloom this summer. The greatest achievement is Hunstanton being awarded the Best Community 2011.

Our monthly full Council meetings are attended by our Borough Councillors who strongly supports our efforts and is a valuable link between our two Councils.
A police representative also attends and we are able to exchange views and concerns on policing, law and order.

This Web site is aimed at keeping you up to date and every effort will be made to do this.

Hunstanton Town Council consists of 17 Councillors. They vary from being in office for many years to just a few months. Each Councillor has a duty to represent the electorate of Hunstanton and receives no remuneration for their hard work. The Council meet at least twice a month in the Council Chamber, usually the first Wednesday of the month are the Committee meetings, comprising of the General Purpose Committee, Finance Committee, Town Hall Management Committee, Quality Council Committee and the Allotment Committee which oversees the Northfields Allotments. The Friday the week following these committee meetings is when the full Council meet, here representatives from the Borough Council, County Council and Norfolk Constabulary make representation. Members of the public are allowed to attend all Council meetings unless otherwise directed by the Chairman, however they may not participate. There is a ten minute period at the start of every Full Council meeting for the Hunstanton electorate to put their questions to the Councillors, and a five minute period at the end for them to ask questions regarding items that have taken place during the meeting.

The current Mayor is Cllr Elaine Clutton, it is her responsibility to chair all full Council meetings, in her absence the Deputy Mayor Cllr Kate Dunnbar takes over the role. The Mayor is requested to attend many functions which he duly obliges whenever possible.

The Town Clerk is Mrs Lisa J Powell, her office is on the second floor of the Town Hall. The opening hours are Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 11.30am and Tuesday afternoon 1pm -3pm, although she is quite happy to see people outside these hours and can be contacted on 01485 532402 or by e-mail at lisa@hunstanton-council.co.uk
