bullet pointTown Council Takes over the Tourist Information Centre
When the Borough Council planned to move the Tourist Information Centre to the Oasis Leisure Complex as a reduced facility as part of a cost cutting exercise, Hunstanton Town Council was inundated with complaints. The current location, centrally located in the Town Hall, is ideal and the staff extremely knowledgeable and helpful The Town Council therefore spent several months working on a plan to not only save the centre but improve it.
As of 1st April 2012 the Tourist Information Centre will be part of the Town Council. No major changes will be seen initially apart from new staff uniforms, new souvenirs and direct access to the basement coffee lounge. However plans are afoot to give it a new lease of life once the busy summer season is over, and there will be an official opening early next year.
In the meantime please come and join us on 1st April at 12 noon for drinks and nibbles to toast the TIC’s fresh start.

bullet pointHunstanton Wins EDP Community of the Year
Hunstanton Town has been awarded the Community of the Year. There was tough competition but this year Hunstanton has really come to the fore with community activities and spirit. With huge Royal Wedding Festivities, fundraising for the basement, a marvellous carnival and our first Christmas Tree Festival to name but a few, Hunstanton was a busy Town.
Plans are already afoot for 2012 with it being a particularly busy year with the Golden Jubilee, the Olympics, Dickens 200th anniversary and also something very personal to the town – the 200th Birthday of Henry le Strange, the town’s founder.
We are of course very lucky to have a fabulous Newsletter which advertises all our events free of charge. This has grown in strength and goes into colour print for the first time soon.
Nobody can ever say that there is nothing to do in Hunstanton and it’s all thanks to residents giving their time freely to make Hunstanton a wonderful place to live and visit. If Hunstanton won the award the prize would go to the Youth Basement.

bullet pointPanto Cheque Presentation
This year’s pantomime The Magical Puss in Boots was a magnificent success thanks to all who took part either on stage, front of house, behind the scenes or in the audience. Tickets were kept to an affordable £7.50 and £5.00 and thanks to The Pavilion Toymaster every child went away with a goody bag.
With last year’s and this year’s combined funds a cheque for £6,000 was presented to the Town Mayor, Cllr. Carol Bower, for the Town Hall Basement Appeal. This will be put towards the new kitchen area.
Next years pantomime is already being written by skilful Writer & Director, John Giller. Auditions will take place in August and rehearsals will commence in September so watch this space!
